Our Employees in the Community

We are proud of the active community participation and leadership demonstrated by our employees. They donate their time, talent and skills as coaches, volunteers and board members. Some support community fundraising initiatives, others lend their skills and talent to local community organizations, and many make personal financial contributions. We’re pleased to support their community spirit in the following ways:

Empower Hours: Employees and their families who volunteer a minimum of 15 hours in a calendar year can receive a grant to be donated by Capital Power to a non-profit organization of the employee’s choice. Grants range from $250-$1,000 and over $760,000 has been directed by employees through this program since 2010.

Generosity: Capital Power provides unlimited matching on employee charitable donations. Employees are free to direct matched funds towards any registered charity in Canada or the U.S. Over $1,000,000 in employee donations have been matched to North American charities through Generosity since the program was launched in 2015.

Paid Volunteer Time (PVT): Recognizing the power of volunteering and celebrating our employees’ generous spirit of giving, we offer paid volunteer time! Employees are eligible for up to 8 hours of paid volunteer time each calendar year for volunteering in the community. Employees can access this time to volunteer during regular working hours.
