Capital Power selected as one of Alberta’s Top Employers for the fourth year in a row
EDMONTON, Alberta – Capital Power Corporation (“Capital Power”) (TSX: CPX) has again been honoured as one of Alberta’s Top Employers for 2019. This award highlights Capital Power’s commitment to fostering a supportive workplace. Capital Power was also recently named as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People (2019) in a separate competition also administered by Canada’s Top 100 Employers.
“Being honoured as one of Alberta’s Top Employers, as well as one of Canada’s Top Employers for Young People, recognizes Capital Power’s ongoing commitment to provide a workplace that values and engages our employees,” said Jacquie Pylypiuk, VP Human Resources. “We are powered by people and supporting their wellness holistically, including physical, mental, financial and social well-being, ensures that our people are able to perform their best both in and out of the office.”
Capital Power was honoured this year for our programs promoting a healthy and community-focused workplace. The competition selection committee highlighted our following initiatives as contributing to our selection:
- Fitness: Employees can keep fit at a shared-use onsite fitness facility that offers personal trainer services.
- Healthy Lifestyle: To encourage employees to adopt healthy habits, Capital Power organized a variety of wellness challenges on eating and sleeping well and being physically active. Capital Power also hosts a wellness fair that features exhibitor booths related to physical fitness, nutrition, sleep and mental health.
- Community Involvement: Capital Power focuses its charitable efforts on preserving and strengthening community character, ecology and cultural heritage, and supports a number of local, national and international organizations each year. Capital Power also supports a matching donations program called “GENerosity” to encourage employees to give back.
Alberta’s Top Employers is an annual competition organized by the editors of the Canada’s Top 100 Employers. This is the 14th edition of the annual editorial competition, which evaluates employers based on the same criteria as the national competition: (1) Physical Workplace; (2) Work Atmosphere & Social; (3) Health, Financial & Family Benefits; (4) Vacation & Time Off; (5) Employee Communications; (6) Performance Management; (7) Training & Skills Development; and (8) Community Involvement. Employers are compared to other organizations in their field to determine which offers the most progressive and forward-thinking programs.
